Deep Run High School hosted its Fall 2016 Programming Contest on Saturday, November 12, 2016. The event began in the morning, when participants began to enter the center classroom, and form their teams. Each group was given a sample problem, and the opportunity to create a name for their team. After introducing the rules of the contest, the programming began. All of the tables received a packet containing ten programming problems of varying difficulties, written by the CIT’s own, Dr. Palen and Mr. Neville. Once a team completed a problem, they were given a balloon with its corresponding color to represent their success. Halfway through the event, all contestants were given a lunch break, leading to the final hour of the contest. The first thirty minutes of the last hour were as normal, but in the last half hour, the scoreboard and balloon system were ended in an effort to build suspense for the final results. Before the final results were revealed, teams had the chance to review and discuss solutions to the ten problems with their peers.In the end, all four teams who participated received a prize, and the results were as follows:
