Applying to College?

  • Parent Brag Sheet please have these returned to your counselor by October 7, 2011 .These Brag Sheets assist us in writing letters of recommendation and filling out secondary school reports.

  • Transcript Request Form must be completed for each school/scholarship/ or personal use. Remember, after 2 free transcripts, please include $5.00 for each additional transcript. Transcript Request Forms must be turned in at least 10 days in advance. Transcripts that are sent by our office usually take several weeks to be processed by the colleges, so please keep this in mind when checking the status of your application online.

Other Information:

  • Most schools have a Secondary School Report, which must be turned in with your Transcript Request Form
  • After semester grades, you must complete a Mid-Term Transcript Request form for each school that you are still considering.
  • During the last 2 weeks of school, you MUST complete a Final Transcript Request Form to send to the school that you will be attending. Most schools will not let you register for classes without having proof that you graduated, the transcript.
  • The Scholarship Newsletter will be distributed each month in your English class and posted on our website. The scholarship drawer is located in the school counseling office..

ATTENTION Student-Athletes:  If you plan to play intercollegiate sports in college, you MUST register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.  When registering you will be asked to pay a fee and have your official transcript sent to the NCAA Center.  When registering for the SAT or ACT you must use the NCAA Eligibility Center code # 9999.  This will ensure that your test scores go directly to the Center.  Student-Athletes who do not use 9999 will need to pay to have your scores sent later in the process.  The Eligibility Center CANNOT accept ACT or SAT scores from your Deep Run HS transcripts.

Senior Exam Exemption Policy
In order for a Senior (12th grade student) to be exempt from taking an end of course final exam, he or she must meet the following criteria:
1. Maintained a cumulative course average of at least 85 (B) at the end of the third nineweeks.
2. Maintained a minimum fourth nine-week average of 85 in the course.
3. Missed 6 or less days from the class (10 times in 5th block). ALL ABSENCES (excused or unexcused) COUNT TOWARDS EXAM EXEMPTION ELIGIBILITY EXCEPT RELIGIOUS ABSENCES AND SCHOOL RELATED ABSENCES (field trips, SODA, documented college visits, athletics, etc.).
4. Any integrity violation that results in disciplinary action removes the student from eligibility for that course.
NOTE: For all forms of exam exemption, three (3) unexcused tardies to class count as one absence. Six unexcused tardies to an individual class eliminate the student from exam exemption eligibility in that class. Six unexcused tardies to school eliminate the student from exam exemption completely.

Immunization Records
College enrollment requires proof of immunizations. Please begin gathrering immunization records from your physician to ensure you have the proper documents for Freshman Orientation. All of these forms should be gathered BEFORE you graduate. Please contact the school nurse before the end of the school year if your doctor does not have these records.

NHS Tutoring-  If you have students who need help in science, math, English, history, or foreign language and would like a Peer Tutor, NHS tutoring has begun. Tutoring takes place during extended study. Math and Science is in Room 234 and History, English, and Foreign Language is in room 230. Ask your teacher for a pass!
