You will discuss Chapter 3 as a group today after viewing part of the film.  Find specific passages from Chapter 3 for support.  You will write a FOUND poem.  Found poems are poems where you take the actual words that are written and arrange them into lines of poetry.  Today, you will find a description of a particular character or some sort of action that involves that particular character and write a found poem based on the passage from the novel.  See example below:

Example (character description)
A girl was standing there
Looking in.
She had full,
rouged lips and wide-spaced
eyes,
heavily made up.
Her fingernails were red.
Her hair hung in little rolled
clusters,
like sausages.
    -Curly's wife,  p. 31

Example #2  (action)
Look, Lennie,
If you get in any kind
of trouble,
Remember
Go an'
hide
in the brush.
Hide
till I come
for you.  Don't
let nobody
see you.
Hide
in the brush
by the river.
    -George, p. 30

1.  Curly
2.  Candy
3.  Carlson
4.  Lennie
5.  George

Chapter 4 Discussion
This chapter focuses on Crooks, the stable buck.  Your assignment today is to find passages that show differences between characters of the book or examples of prejudice.  Assume the role of Crooks, Curly's wife, or Lennie and react to this prejudice in a journal entry.
