Advanced Computer Applications
In the past most attempts have been made by laying technology over past non-technology curriculum and forcing the technology onto it.  According to the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) Project (NETS, 2005), students must be able to live, learn and work in an increasingly complex and information-rich society.  This means they must effectively use technology to find and analyze information, solve problems and make informed decisions, think creatively, communicate and collaborate globally, and effectively use technology tools to produce and publish their work.  This course will reference the National Education Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T) and Students (NETS-S).  This course is designed and tailored to the needs and interests of the participants in the Henrico-VCU Instructional Technology Cohort.  Emphasis is placed on the application of communication, collaboration, and critical thinking in a student-centered learning environment.
