Flute

The first type of flute was made with animal bones such as mammoth  tusk and swan bones. Found in the country Solvenia in a cave, about 43,100 years ago. The more modern flute that we know today was invented in 1832 by Theobald Boehm, he made a completely new flute. He used wood instead of metal; he changed the thickness of the tube’s wall, dimension and the arrangement of the holes, and the mouth hole were changed by him. Boehm was not impressed with his finished product finally built in 1847. Acoustics an new keys were based on his calculations. In 1869 somebody by the name of Louis Lot built the first gold flute. Now the modern flute is made with gold, silver, (copper, zinc, and nickel), platinum and palladium.

The first flute was created in china around 3,000 years ago and it was held sideways as it was played.

I picked the flute because I thought it would be an interesting instrument to research. The flute is not that common out of all the other instruments. I never really knew much about the flute. Until I decided to use this instrument for my project I have never really heard someone play the flute before and I was interested to hear and learn about the flute.
