Our mission is to empower students and staff to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
Crestview Library has a flexible access/open circulation system which allows students to check out books and use the library any time between 7:30 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. each day. Kindergarten, first grade, and most exceptional education classes also have a scheduled weekly library time. Second through fifth grade students come to the library as a class for lessons, research, and to support our Drop Everything and Read activities. We have five iMac computers in the library for student use. Unless these are being utilized for research stations, they are available for Accelerated Reader quizzes, on-line access using specific search directories, and our internet based library catalog to search for books and reference information.
Our information center houses approximately 12,000 books. Students may check out up to three items at a time for a one week circulation period. Materials must be presented at the circulation desk in order to be renewed and may be kept for up to three weeks if renewed properly. Fees are charged only in cases of damage or loss; we have no overdue fines in elementary school. Overdue reminders are distributed periodically.
Crestview participates in Cover to Cover, an annual reading program open to all fifth grade students.
A Warm Welcome
