The Shady Grove Elementary Library...

...serves teachers, staff and nearly 800 students everyday! We love to read and research!  The library offers students 5 iMac desktop computers that connect to the  library online catalog, to various computer software programs, and to the internet.  Students may check out materials, on a daily basis, from our collection of over 10,000 books and various student magazines.

The Shady Grove library  offers a flexible and open schedule.  Students in kindergarten through fifth grade may visit the library when the need arises.  Students may visit the library on their own, with a small group, or with their entire class for a group lesson.  Our hope is to have every student visit at least one day each week.

Library books are checked out on a seven day basis.  If a student checks out a book on Monday, for example, it will be due on the following Monday.  Books may be renewed as needed.  Our goal is to run overdue notices each week.  No overdue fines are charged in elementary school but Mrs. Blouch or Mrs. McIver should be contacted if a book becomes lost or damaged.  Henrico County Public School policy is to request a replacement charge of $16.00  for lost or damaged books.  A $5.00 charge is requested for paperback books and magazines.
