Discovering a Formula for the Slope of a Line (WS 7)

Below you can see a line and its corresponding linear equation.

Note: Write down all your answers on a sheet of paper.
  1. Find a way to calculate the slope m of the line.
    (a) Use the coordinates of points X1 and X2 to calculate the side lengths of the slope triangle. Write down your assumption.
    (b) Check your assumption for at least 3 different positions of the points X1 and X2 as well as for 2 different values of slider m.
  2. Write down your formula for the slope m in a more abstract way. Use the general coordinates X1 = (x1, y1) and X2 = (x2, y2) in your formula.
