Investigation Steps

 Step 1 Close
  1. Move sliders a and c. What changes?

  2. When a and c have different values, what do you notice about the lines?

  3. Move sliders b and d. What changes?
 Step 2 Close
  1. When a = 2 and c = 0.5, what do you notice?

  2. Now move c to -0.5, how are the lines different?

  3. Now move b and d both to 1.

  4. How does this change the relationship between the lines?
 Step 3 Close
  1. Sliders a and c control the slope of the lines.

  2. What does the b and d sliders control?

  3. Make the slopes equal, how would you describe the lines?
 Step 4 Close
Send your conjectures to you instructor.

  1. Make a conjecture about the slope of a line and it being skew or oblique to another line.

  2. Make a conjecture about the slope of a line and it being parallel to another line.

  3. Make a conjecture about the slope of a line and it being perpendicular to another line.
