Unit Eight: Circles

8-1 Objective: The student will be able to define and sketch the following circle related objects: circle, radius, chord, diameter, secant, tangent, point of tangency, common tangents, congruent circles, concentric circles, inscribed/circumscribed objects, arc, minor arc, semicircle, major arc, arc length, circumference, sphere, and great circle.

8-2 Objective: SOL G.11 c: The student will use angles, arcs, chords, tangents, and secants to (c) find arc lengths and areas of sectors in circles.

8-3 Objective: SOL G.11 a,b: The student will use angles, arcs, chords, tangents, and secants to (a) investigate, verify, and apply properties of circles; (b) solve real-world problems involving properties of circles.
