Create Polygons


Objective

SOL 6.14 The student will identify, classify, and describe the characteristics of plane figures, describing their similarities, differences, and defining properties.

  1. Click on the AREA icon, then click to place a point, move the pointer then click on the first point to create a polygon. To reset the screen click on your browser's REFRESH button
  2. Move the cursor over the other buttons to determine their function.

  1. Create several green quadrilaterals with thick lines and an area of 15 units2. How many different types of quadrilaterals could you make?
  2. Create as many blue rectangles with different lengths and widths each with an area of 6 units2.
  3. Repeat this process for areas from 8 units2 to 20 units2. Look for a relationship between the number of different rectangles and the factors of the number. If a relationship exists, explain it in complete sentences.
