7.13The student, given a polygon in the coordinate plane, will represent translation - by graphing the coordinates of the vertices of the transformed polygon and sketching the resulting figure.

Directions

  • The sliders, a and b, control the vector. Point Q is translated by the vector. Change the values of the sliders and watch Point Q' change.
  • 1. What does changing the value of slider a do to the vector and consequently to Point Q'?
  • 2. What does changing the value of slider b do to the vector and consequently to Point Q'?
  • 3. Can you determine the coordinates of Point Q' if you were given the values of slider a, slider b, and the coordinates of Point Q?
