Mickey Mercury
Mickey Mercury
I am Mercury, easy to pour,
Thermometers are what I’m used for.
In batteries and barometers and hatters alike,
I’m gloopy and glopy so don’t get up tight.
Wierdly I’m liquid at regular heat,
But at -89 degrees I find myself beat.
Boiling I am at 357 degrees,
I’m almost as strange as Nanny McPhee.
The valence electrons I have is six,
I am a natural poison, not easy to fix.
Now we’re not strangers, so call me Mickey,
Go tell your teachers, your parents, and your great friend Ricky.
Job: I work in thermometers, (when I heat up, I expand and rise.), barometers, batteries, electronics, and rare antiseptics.
Cool Fact: I used to be put in felt hats. I would sink into their heads, eventually driving the insane. Then came the saying “Mad as a hatter”.

My Poem
Mercury is liquid at room temperature, so Even Flow by Pearl Jam is as good selection.
