Hello, my name’s Tarathos Titanium (Ti for short).
I’m a Transition Metal, and solid at room temperature, and am proud to say that I am one of the lightest and strongest metals on the Periodic Table. I am also resistant to corrosion, which means I’m really good at all sorts of tasks.
Currently, I am making my living as a tennis racket (my strength and weight make me a good material for them). However, I’m thinking about becoming a replacement hip joint, since I’m non-toxic. I like to help people. Unfortunately, because of the war, I may be drafted as a rudder in a battleship. This is haunting me-- most rudders, even strong, corrosion-resistant Titanium ones, get killed eventually.
Here’s a poem I wrote about myself (and Titanium in general)
Lightweight metal, on the ground.
Shining crystal, rugged rock.
Now an Element is found.
It’s surface does discov’rer knock.
This substance, they find, seems to be
Strong as iron, steel even.
They pour chlorine violently
No result or corrosion.
The one to find Titanium
For that is this metal’s name.
Must conclude, without an “Um”
Not any substance is the same!
Someone named Lee Coulter wrote a song called “Titanium”. Who knew?
Here’s a clip.
