I am eighty-two, so you would suppose I was retired, which I am. When I was young, I was a a nurse at a hospital, mostly helping with X-rays. I put the aprons on the people who needed to be X-rayed so that they could have a shield against the X-rays. I was also a plumber, but mostly, I specialized in water pipes. The ancient Romans had great ideas when they used lead to make their water pipes. I also worked in a factory lab making metal alloys that included lead such as Solder, Type Metal, and Babbit Metal. I also am a big fan of recycling and help out around the community. A huge part of my life (1/3) is made up by recycling.

MY POEM: Lead, the element, grayish in color,

Yes, some things could be duller.

The symbol is Pb,

No, not Pd.

Its family is the Carbon Group.

That family is quite a troupe.

The discoverer is unknown,

I suppose you could phone.

Lead’s Atomic Number is 82,

By that time it has sailed the ocean blue.

Who me?
