Social Studies Curriculum Frameworks
The Virginia Department of Education has
provided The History and Social Science Standards of Learning Curriculum Frameworks
to specify the content outlined in the 2001 revised Virginia SOL. These documents
amplify the History and Social Science Standards of Learning and define the content
knowledge, skills, and understandings that are measured by the Standards of Learning
tests. The Curriculum Framework provides additional guidance to teachers as they
develop an instructional program appropriate for their students. These documents
will serve as the foundation of course instruction. All items on the Virginia
SOL Assessments will be based on these documents.
