Harriet Tubman fought for freedom and equal rights in many ways.  First she escaped from slavery and set up the Underground Railroad to help other slaves escape.  During the Civil War she worked for the Union army as a nurse, cook, scout, and spy.  After the war she spoke out with Susan B. Anthony for women’s right to vote. 1
