Style #11 - Pencil

Friday, February 16, 2007
The experiment is almost over. Today is my last beard style for a very long time. Before I get into it, I have to share with you feedback from the moustache.

I'll be the first to admit that I look like a total doofus with a moustache. I've never liked the look of a moustache on me and yesterday confirms this. That should give you a little warning about what my students and colleagues had to say. For the sake of this journal, I'll only list the ones that will pass the censors.

My students and fellow teacher AZ thoroughly enjoyed calling my "Ron" all day. Like I have said throughout this whole website, this beard experiment is purely for entertainment purposes only. Please do not bet on what the next style will be.

Alrighty then...time for the final version. I would think it is safe to assume that 90% of my students want me to shave my moustache in the style of Charlie Chaplin (although they refer to it as Hitler). I do not know their obsession other than the fact that they think it will make me more of a sight for sore eyes. I think they believe it would be hysterical if I had that style. Either way, it ain't happening! I don't have many limits in my life or classroom but I'm drawing the line on that one! No toothbrush moustache. That's it. Final. Period.

The style of the day will be the "pencil moustache", also known as a Mouthbrow. It is narrow, thin, closely clipped, outlining the upper lip, with a wide shaven gap between the nose and moustache. It was common in the movies back in the 30's and 40's. Take Clark Gable for instance...

Well, that's it! I'll have one more journal describing the pencil moustache along with recapping the events of these exciting two weeks.
