Virginia Lottery's Finance Director Donna Van Cleave presents me with the Excellence in Education Award during the second quarter of the Virginia Tech - West Virginia football game.
ANNOUNCER SCRIPT FOR OCT. 2 PRESENTATION:
"Each year the Virginia Lottery honors outstanding public school
educators from across the Commonwealth, with the Excellence in Education
Awards.
Coming on to the field now is Virginia Lottery's Finance Director Donna Van Cleave with Skip Tyler of Varina High School in Henrico County.
Mr. Tyler is a math teacher, known for his passion for teaching and his ability to fire the imaginations of students. He developed an on-line algebra course and serves as the school’s webmaster. He also coaches the junior varsity baseball team. He was Henrico County’s Teacher of the Year in 2003. He is also a Regional Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for Virginia’s Teacher of the Year. Mr. Tyler taught our very own Hokies, Kevin and Jonathan Lewis, and best of all, he earned both his bachelors and masters degrees from Virginia Tech.
Let’s all show our appreciation for this Virginia Lottery Excellence in Education Award winner – Skip Tyler of Henrico County Public Schools."
