Deep Run High School hosted its Winter 2019
Programming Contest on Saturday, January 5, 2019. This year
the competition was split into two divisions: advanced and novice.
The event began in the morning, when participants began to enter
the center classroom, and form their teams. Groups were given
a sample problem to assure the server worked.
After introducing the rules of the contest, the
programming began. All of the tables received a packet
containing ten programming problems of varying difficulties,
written by center teachers Dr. Palen and Mr. Caudle. Once a team
completed a problem, they were given a balloon with its
corresponding color. In the end, there were four winners and the results were

On September 18, 2018, Computer Science Honor Society held its 3rd annual
induction ceremony. After a short speech by Mrs. Norris and officers of CSHS,
the inductees were able to be officially recognized as members of the society.
CSHS offers students a chance to participate in computer science related events during and outside of
