Information for Prospective Students
for the 2015-16 school year


As rising 9th graders, you have many choices to make in determining which Specialty Center and high school is the right fit for you. Henrico County offers several opportunities for you to visit and learn more about the various Specialty Centers.

1) Attend one of four informational sessions. All of the Specialty Centers are available to give an overview of their program.

2) Come to the Center for World Languages Open House.

7:00 p.m.

3) Shadow a current Center student for a full day. We encourage all 8th graders interested in our program to find out more about us by shadowing.

We recommend Mondays in order to experience all 7 classes (the rest of the week is block scheduling).

 November 23, 2015 • On-line application available
January 15, 2016 • Applications due
March 11, 2016 • Letters of acceptance are mailed
March 25, 2016 • Students must respond to acceptance letters by this date
April 15, 2016 • All students being offered a spot from the wait list must inform

Non-HCPS Students must take the NWEA Reading and Math tests

5) Take the entrance exam for the Center for World Languages. This is a required part of the application process.

Admission - Students will be selected based on the following criteria:
Strength of submitted application and grade transcription
Results of entrance exam
Recommendation of the selection committee

Please Note: Bus transportation is provided for all students attending the Center for World Languages.
