As rising 9th graders, you have many choices to make in determining which Specialty Center and high school is the right fit for you. Henrico County offers several opportunities for you to visit and learn more about the various Specialty Centers.

1) Attend one of four informational sessions. All of the Specialty Centers are available to give an overview of their program.

2) Come to the Center for World Languages Open House.

3) Shadow a current Center student for a full day. We encourage all 8th graders interested in our program to find out more about us by shadowing.

We recommend Mondays in order to experience all 7 classes (the rest of the week is block scheduling). APPLICATION TO SHADOW

4) Take the entrance exam for the Center for World Languages.

5) Follow the application process.

Your School Counseling department can help with this process. November 28, 2011 • Applications available (Online and in School Counseling) January 27, 2012 • Applications due March 16, 2012 • Letters of acceptance are mailed March 23, 2012 • Students must respond to acceptance Letters

* Current eighth grade students living in Henrico County who are not enrolled in a Henrico County middle school and are interested in applying for a Specialty Center for the 2012-2013 school year, must take the NWEA MAPS Reading and Math Test.  Students will also have to complete a one hour writing prompt.  Interested students must register for both the NWEA and writing assessments.

Strength of submitted application and grade transcription
Results of entrance exam
Recommendation of the selection committee
